A failed induction, with 24 hours with no cervical change, results in a cesarean birth.

Mom is in labor, laying in bed while hooked up to an epidural as well as a pitocin drip. Exhausted, there has been no cervical change for almost a full 24 hours.

She has already been prepped and the surgery has begun. This angle is from up by mom's head.

Here they have gotten to the baby, and are getting ready for him to be born.

And he's here! Freshly born, you can see his foot sticking up and his little hands reaching just under the physicians arm (on the right)

Just a second later...baby is still on mommy's tummy.

Baby is rushed to the warming table to be checked.

And he was a screaming, big baby boy!! He was covered in vernex. As of this picture, they had already started cleaning some of it off! 8 lbs 12 oz..healthy baby!

Mom and baby get their first peek at one another. All she could say is, "He's perfect! Isn't he beautiful?"

And a bundled baby is ready to go to the nursery.

Mom is in recovery, and gets to hold her baby for the first time.

What a look of peace...in mom's arms, finally.
